The Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus are an international Congregation with provinces, delegations and missions. They are present on 5 continents. The headquarters of the Congregation is located in Rome.

Mother Miriam Cunha Sobrinha was born in Varzea, Brazil. She entered the Congregation in 1989 and completed her initial formation in the Province of Sao Paolo.In 1994 she did her internal juniorate in Rome, professing her final vows in Avezzano, Italy, in 1998. Mother Miriam completed a licenciate in Religious Studies and in Philosophy at the Pontifical University Antonianum in Rome. She continued her studies in Rome at the Pontifical Lateran University where she earned a Diploma in Theology and Certificate in Fundamental Theology.
Mother Miriam carried out her mission in the field of educational administration, vocational ministry and coordinating religious instruction. In Switzerland, she worked with children of immigrants in a nursery school. She was Provincial Secretary in the Province of Sao Paolo and soon after assumed the position of Vice Provincial for three years for the Central North Vice Province of Brazil. She completed two terms as Provincial Superior of the Province of São Paolo in Brazil.
On July 21, 2016 she was elected Superior General of the Congregation of the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In 2022, she was re-elected as Superior General for a second term of six years.
The Superior General is assisted by a Council in governing and leading the Sisters in fidelity to the action of the Holy Spirit in the Congregation.

These dedicated women served as leaders of the Institute and helped to write the chapters of the history of the Congregation of the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, following in the footsteps of Mother Clelia Merloni.
